 Hike Nalychevsky Nature Park

Trips available from June 15-September 15

Hike Nalychevsky Nature Park
7-14-day trips
Groups 4-8 people

hiking backpacking kamchatka russia Nalychevsky Nature Park is located not far from Yelizovo and Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, on the northeast side of Koryaksky and Avachinsky Volcanoes, which overlook both cities. This park is a bowl of mountains and volcanoes nestling spectacular hills, birch forests, tundra, and many hot springs. Nalychevsky Park is a true microcosm of the Peninsula. Here you can venture into almost any kind of landscape found on Kamchatka. Hotsprings, a product of the ring of volcanoes forming the boundaries of the park, provide tired hikers with a wonderful respite. Hikes take one up to alpine meadows, high into the mountains, or down along rivers and to hidden lakes. This destination we recommend with or without your own guide because maps and trails point the way for experienced hikers.

Itinerary
Day 1 Arrival on Kamchatka, acclimatization. Accommodations are at Explore Kamchatka’s bed and breakfast in Yelizovo just 15 minutes from the airport.

Day 2 Morning departure, drive about 30 minutes to Pinechevo, a village below Koryaksky Volcano and Aag Volcano. Hike the first day up to a halfway cabin located below the pass. Overnight in cabin or tents as desired. It’s a good idea to be prepared to camp in case someone else is already in the cabin.

Day 3 Hike over Pinechova Pass, and down into the park below. Hike to the park center where your cabins are waiting equipped with a wood stove. Toilets are outhouses and there is no running water. In the park center, you’ll find several cabins and a rangers’ house. Most inviting are the hot springs about 1 km across the tundra from your cabins.

Day 4-7 Hike as desired in the park. We can arrange for you to be picked up by helicopter to return to the city or you can hike out.

Day 8-9 Hike out of the park, back over Pinechevo Pass. Meet your vehicle at Pinechevo Village. Overnight in a cozy hotel or bed and breakfast.

Day 10 Departure day. Airport transfer.
